One of my primary duties as part of the News Staff is to deliver effective sports reports that recap the recent happenings and upcoming events in local, regional, and national athletics. Below is a Virginias AP Broadcasters award-winning report that I wrote and produced.
I have also made various appearances on FM88 Sports' Buzzer Beater, a national sports topic debate program similar to ESPN’s “Around the Horn." The format is simple: the episode's host asks various sports questions, and four panelists must try and come up with the best argument to support their point. Below is a snippet from an episode I competed on.
Further, another one of my roles on the News Staff is reporting, building original stories from the ground up. This news package, entitled "Bear the Dog," is also featured in written form in this portfolio. This story was the first real opportunity I had to shine a spotlight on my local community, a key goal that motivates me.
